    Dear Vittore Giraudo,
   the cupola is not anyone geodesic, but a special one able to be cut in planes at right angles in order to be opened and added. In same time it is more than e geodesic cupola because of the ring nets of the caps.
   Only the overlapping areas of the ring nets and of the pendentif regions are geodesic. But I called the cupola geodesic, because this sort of cupola is more advanced than an old cupola with a single ring net..
   As in Fuller' s cupolas there is no exceptional linking system for the building elements. The intelligent geometric arrangement has been new. In the patenting process it had been difficult for Fuller to explain, that geometric facts are technically important, but he succeeded. The other patent for a building system of thick plates for zones etc. deals with an intelligent geometric arrangement of elements too, exceeding the spatial imagination of an architect normally.
   It is not a design itself, but a technical basis for many designs or projects, passing the normal cubic way of building. The descriptions of my patents can be understood by an architect, because they have been written by an architect. If an architect has special questions or translation problems from German, he can contact me.
   If he needs a closed cupola only, a conventional geodesic one would be sufficient.
